Bateman (played by Christian Bale in American Psycho) lives in the reality of the shallow and vicious aspects of capitalism, portrayed here fixating on his new meticulously crafted business card, which he has shown to colleagues during a meeting.
His extreme narcissism and obsession with appearances are evident as he critiques their cards, comparing himself to them, all while subtly hinting at his darker, violent nature.
I painted the movie scene against the backdrop of a high-stakes poker game.
